SWAMPS, SCRiPTS, AND STORY
While starting out as a thesis project, "Swampland" quickly evolved into a personal and passion piece.
The story is a love letter to Florida; pulling an embarrassing amount of inspiration from Ansel's childhood in Land O’ Lakes. It's a story about weird little girls, finding yourself, misunderstood monsters, found family, thinly veiled LGBTQ metaphors, and second chances.
"Swampland" is a series of eight, twenty-page scripts, written on Final Draft and peer-edited and critiqued through the Class of 2024 Creative Writing Major at Ringling College of Art and Design. It received three "Best of Ringling" awards that year.
Although Ansel is keeping the remaining seven episodes close to his chest, the pilot is available to read.
